چکیده

Abstract. We present in this paper two different classes of general K-splitting algorithms for solving finite-dimensional convex optimization problems. Under the assumption that the function being minimized has a Lipschitz continuous gradient, we prove that the number of iterations needed by the first class of algorithms to obtain an ε-optimal solution is O(1/ε). The algorithms in the second class are accelerated versions of those in the first class, where the complexity result is improved to O(1/ √ ε) while the computational effort required at each iteration is almost unchanged. To the best of our knowledge, the complexity results presented in this paper are the first ones of this type that have been given for splitting and alternating direction type methods. Moreover, all algorithms proposed in this paper are parallelizable, which makes them particularly attractive for solving certain large-scale problems.

Particle Swarm Optimization for Hydraulic Analysis of Water Distribution Systems

The analysis of flow in water-distribution networks with several pumps by the Content Model may be turned into a non-convex optimization uncertain problem with multiple solutions. Newton-based methods such as GGA are not able to capture a global optimum in these situations. On the other hand, evolutionary methods designed to use the population of individuals may find a global solution even for ...

Convergence rate analysis of several splitting schemes

Splitting schemes are a class of powerful algorithms that solve complicated monotone inclusions and convex optimization problems that are built from many simpler pieces. They give rise to algorithms in which the simple pieces of the decomposition are processed individually. This leads to easily implementable and highly parallelizable algorithms, which often obtain nearly state-of-the-art perfor...

Cut Pursuit: Fast Algorithms to Learn Piecewise Constant Functions on General Weighted Graphs

We propose working-set/greedy algorithms to efficiently find the solutions to convex optimization problems penalized respectively by the total variation and the Mumford Shah boundary size. Our algorithms exploit the piecewise constant structure of the level-sets of the solutions by recursively splitting them using graph cuts. We obtain significant speed up on images that can be approximated wit...

Randomized Algorithm For 3-Set Splitting Problem and it's Markovian Model

In this paper we restrict every set splitting problem to the special case in which every set has just three elements. This restricted version is also NP-complete. Then, we introduce a general conversion from any set splitting problem to 3-set splitting. Then we introduce a randomize algorithm, and we use Markov chain model for run time complexity analysis of this algorithm. In the last section ...
